GRIEF COUNSELING

When loss comes, it can feel like being carried out to sea. Some days you can see the shore. Other days a wave rises and you are under again. You are not broken and you are not alone.

Grief is a human response to change. It is not only about death. Grief can follow a breakup, a change in health, a move, a shift in identity, a lost dream, or even a welcome transition that still asks you to say goodbye to what was. In our culture the map we are handed is full of cliche and mixed messages. Keep moving. Get over it. Choose joy. In truth there is no single timeline. Your pace is the right pace. It is also important to name that folx with marginalized intersectional identities often carry grief that feels complicated and further marginalized by the world around them. We will make space for that reality here.

There is a way forward that does not erase what matters. Many grief teachers describe grief as a relationship that changes shape over time. We adapt to a new reality while keeping an enduring bond with what was lost. Okay does not mean forgetting. It means more space between the waves and more room to breathe.

How grief counseling can help

Normalize and orient. We sort what is part of a wide range of normal grief and what might need extra support, especially when anxiety or depression show up alongside loss.

Make meaning. We explore what was lost through story and memory. We look at threads that connect this loss with others, even when they seem very different, so pain feels less stuck and more understood.

Include the body. We use steadying practices to meet strong emotion and sensation with care. This is often helpful when grief is tied to chronic illness or other health changes.

Honor connection. We welcome the images, rituals, and acts of remembrance that feel right to you. Ritual is always an invitation, never a requirement. We meet you in your own values and beliefs.

A truly affirming space. I offer care that is deeply welcoming for queer and 2SLGBTQIA communities and for people in polyamory and ethical non monogamy. Individuals only.
